Over $3,800 Raised for Shoes of Service

Spearheaded by Lake Oconee Academy Sophomore Anna Harris, more than $3,800.00 was raised at the first annual Shoes of Service 5K and Fun Run! More than 100 individuals participated in the event including runners ranging in age from 4 to 74! In addition to the money raised at the event, a generous supply of new and gently used shoes were collected to add to the shoes of service program. These shoes will be distributed to those in need in the Dominican Republic later this year as well locally on April 15th at the Second Harvest.

Surgeons of Service would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratefulness to Anna Harris and the students at Lake Oconee Academy who helped with the race festivities. We are excited to have partnered up with the school and we look forward to participating again in next year’s race!
