Our team is currently assisted by two non-profit organizations in Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic, the Dominican Joe Foundation and the Samana Smiles Foundation. Joseph Rizzo of the Dominican Joe Foundation helped initiate the introduction to Lidia Dickinson and the Hospital Lic. Pablo A. Paulino and has been instrumental in supplying logistical assistance before and while in the Dominican Republic. Additionally, Lidia and Mike Bidwell, founders of the Samana Smiles Foundation, continue to contribute countless hours of time and support at the hospital. The Samana Smiles Foundation has been very influential by their efforts to provide logistical and planning support for our teams through maximizing logistical efficiency. Their contributions include coordinating local volunteers, providing a local office and storage space, and providing necessary supplies and materials throughout the trips. Finally, through our collective efforts, we have partnered with Luis Estevaz of Omega Prosthetics in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. With his, we are able to obtain the needed supportive and corrective braces for the pediatric patients of the Las Terrenas community.
